A Scorching Weekend in Rome with My Teenage Boys

Just returned from an unforgettable long weekend in Rome with my teenage boys. The city was buzzing, and the high temperatures of 38 during the day and 29 at night made it feel like we were melting as we toured the major sights. Despite the heat, we had an amazing time soaking in the history and vibrant culture of the Eternal City.

Our days were packed with visits to iconic landmarks like the Colosseum, the Vatican, and the Pantheon. The boys were in awe of the grandeur and scale of these ancient structures. It was a treat to see them so engaged, even as we dodged the midday sun by ducking into gelato shops and shaded piazzas for some much-needed breaks.

One of the highlights was our early morning photography sessions. I managed to beat the crowds and the heat by getting up at dawn to capture the serene beauty of the Roman Forum and the Spanish Steps. Blue hour made for a couple of great photos, and the quiet streets offered a peaceful contrast to the bustling city later in the day.

Rome's charm and history made for a perfect weekend getaway, even with the sizzling temperatures. The boys and I created memories we'll cherish, and those early morning moments were particularly special. Can't wait to share one or two early morning shots from the trip!
